I’ve recently changed my teaching style to a choice-based format for the children. I’m getting the hang of it and am starting to see a positive effect.
For instance, today, my technique demo was drawing with an eraser in charcoal. They loved it and their positive verbal reaction at the prospect took me by surprise!
Today it was more about the discoveries they made in their art book when previous work imprinted somehow in the charcoal. Their task became figuring out how this happened and how thy could take it further in their own way.
