Assignment 4 – second attempt and reflection

I kept looking at the canvas and I ended up tweaking it. I noticed in the photographs that a few brushstrokes looked like smudges; they didn’t sit right with me. Although I needed to be aware of not overworking it and trying to maintain a painterly feel. I continued amending it and also added some natural elements, as Joan Eardley did.

I really did enjoy the fluid zone that I was in with this piece. I will continue to practise this as I felt I jumped a hurdle with the block I was having. Now I can feel what it is to relax into the brushstrokes and I am looking forward to working with this and taking it further.
